Everton plot loan move to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal before deadline day

Before the summer transfer deadline on August 30, Everton is getting ready to submit a loan proposal to acquire Arsenal center-forward Eddie Nketiah, according to Football Insider.

Marseille of French Ligue 1 had shown interest in Nketiah during the previous three weeks, but a transfer fell through because the two teams’ asking prices were very different.

Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke asserts in the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Track podcast that Everton has entered the battle to sign Nketiah and is prepared to make a bid to get the Arsenal striker on a temporary loan.

But the article also states that Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s exit this summer will determine whether Nketiah plays at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth also expressed interest in the 25-year-old after his transfer to Marseille fell through, but negotiations have now stopped, giving Everton the opportunity to sign the striker.

Nketiah’s Emirates Stadium contract is set to end in the summer of 2027, but it appears that he will likely leave this summer, with Everton being the likely destination for the star, who earns £100k a week and is valued at €30m (£25m) according to Transfermarkt.

Nketiah would bring a lot of value to Everton.

After their forwards’ lackluster goal returns from the previous campaign, Everton has made the signing of a center-forward a top priority this summer.

With just 38 Premier League games played last season, Everton scored the second fewest goals (behind Sheffield United, who were relegated) of any team. In 77 games in all competitions, Beto and Calvert-Lewin, the center-forward duo, have only managed 14 goals between them.

The Merseyside club, whose goal-scoring inadequacies were on display in their 3-0 Premier League opening against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, need to be swooping for a capable finisher like Nketiah.

Considering that Nketiah typically plays in supporting roles for Arsenal, his goal average of every 184 minutes is impressive.

Sean Dyche’s team is already in danger of being demoted due to financial limitations and some internal divisions.

In spite of this, the Merseyside club has managed to bring in some intelligent players, such as Tim Iroegbunam, Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jesper Lindstrøm.

The Toffees would be doing themselves a favor by bringing Nketiah into the fold this month, which could increase their chances of surviving this season.
