After stifling interest from other teams, Swindon Town is ready to expand their attacking options by bringing in Kabongo Tshimanga on loan.
Since moving permanently to London Road, the Peterborough United striker has only played in four games since joining the Posh in the summer.The 26-year-old was on loan at Fleetwood Town and Boreham Wood last season, but his contributions were insufficient to keep them in League One and the National League, respectively.
The Robins will finalise Tshimanga’s transfer next week, as reported by Joe Acklam of the Swindon Advertiser. This will give their strike force, which has scored only once in League Two this season, further options. They drew 1-1 with Chesterfield on the first day of play, then suffered crushing losses to Walsall in their last game and Crawley Town in the cup.
The former MK Dons player was also being pursued by Partick Thistle of Scotland and two unidentified National League teams. After Sutton United’s relegation to the fifth division, he signed Harry Smith, making him the second striker to arrive this window.
At the end of the previous campaign, Darren Ferguson’s team placed the forward and Romoney Crichlow-Noble, a former Bradford City player, for transfer. The League Two team has acquired the Congolese international, despite the Cambridgeshire club’s best efforts to let him go permanently.
Today’s early kickoff sees Town heading to Crew Alexandra in an attempt to secure their first victory of the year. After two games, Mark Kennedy’s team is ranked twenty-first, while their opponents are bottom of the fourth division standings. Tshimanga is set to make his home debut against Notts County as the agreement is anticipated to be announced next week.

Mark Kennedy appears to have chosen Kabongo Tshimanga, the fourth attacking option that Swindon Town has been in need of. The striker seems to have difficulty delivering on a regular basis in League One, and his three selections to the National League Team of the Season indicate that he is simply too talented for that division. He can create his mark and sell himself to teams to get out of Peterborough thanks to Swindon’s steady foundation.
Although the season is still extremely early, the Robins have not performed as well as they did during Michael Flynn’s tenure a year ago. In the EFL Cup meeting against Crawley, only Harry Smith has scored from their forward line this season to square the score. The next games are a mixed bag, with opportunities to win their first games of the year tonight against Crewe and later this season against Newport County.
