DEAL DONE: Celtic make their move for versatile player Rodgers trusts

Despite much of the footballing focus currently being on the international arena and the approaching Euros, Celtic remains active in the transfer market.

Just off the back of winning a domestic double, the Hoops are already trying to enhance the squad for next season and might do so with the arrival of Daniel Amartey.

Daniel Amartey

According to a report from Turkish outlet NTV Spor, the Scottish champions are interested in signing the 52-time capped Ghana international from Besiktas having presented a bid of four million euros for his services.

It is claimed that the Celts want to sign Amartey, a versatile player who manager Brendan Rodgers trusts.

The Parkhead gaffer worked with the 29-year-old throughout his spell at Leicester, Amartey making over 70 appearances under his supervision.

Able to play at centre-back, holding midfield, and right-back, Amartey would provide some much-needed depth and talent to the club.

Having won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Community Shield, he has been over the course in England but in his year with Besiktas in Turkey, it hasn’t worked out for him.

Perhaps Amartey can find his form courtesy of a meeting with his old manager this summer.
