The South London Press has learned that Baylee Dipepa, a 17-year-old striker, has been watched by Crystal Palace.

At the beginning of the 2023–24 season, Dipepa, then 16 years old, earned his Port Vale debut by substituting in an EFL Trophy match against Crewe Alexandra, a League Two team.

Signing his first professional contract in January 2024, he played 22 League One games for the Valients the previous season before they were demoted to the fourth division, scoring twice and dishing out three assists.

In the club’s 2-1 loss to Shrewsbury in March, Dipepa scored the second-youngest goal of the season.
Dipepa was selected for this summer’s U17 European Championship following an outstanding start to his tenure with the England U17 team, where he scored three goals in the lead-up to the tournament and scored in their first victory over France, 4-0.

If Palace decides to make a move for Dipepa, they will have fierce competition because the young player has been linked to both West Ham and Manchester United in recent weeks.

Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Adam Wharton were all signed by the Eagles from the Championship, continuing a tradition started by sporting director Dougie Freedman of selecting the top players from the EFL.

He penned his first professional deal in January 2024 and made 22 League One appearances last season for the Valients as they were relegated to the fourth tier, scoring twice and picking up three assists.

Dipepa became the club’s second youngest goal scorer in March scoring in a 2-1 defeat against Shrewsbury.
