Club need €25-30m more to convince Aston Villa – Monchi open to idea but price isn’t right

Since Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie’s contract expires next summer, Aston Villa only value him at €15m, ruling out a Douglas Luiz trade.

Calciomercato reports that Juventus believes a trade is possible, but the numbers are not yet aligned.

This week, reports have suggested that Juventus can sign Luiz from Aston Villa this summer and include McKennie to lower the cost.

Today’s report said they valued the American at €30m, thus a deal for €30m plus McKennie may win them their man, albeit that looked crazy.

Juventus are hopeful due to Aston Villa’s necessity for a significant sale by June 30th to comply with PSR, as explained by CM today.

Director of football Monchi spoke with his colleague from Juventus, Cristiano Giuntoli last week to talk about Douglas Luiz and the potential of a trade being done in the next 20 days.

€15m international 'about to join' Aston Villa as Monchi finally gets his man - Birmingham Live

Giuntoli wishes to include McKennie in a deal. Aston Villa are open to this but only value him at €15m because his contract expires next summer. Thus, the valuations are very different.

CM claim Juventus must decide whether to invest another €25-30m to win Monchi’s approval and negotiate with Douglas Luiz personally.

The ‘track is hot’ but has to be done this month and for now, that disparity in valuation will block anything from moving forwards.
