Chris Mepham considered by Celtic as Bournemouth defender on Brendan Rodgers transfer shortlist - Football Scotland - 6 Jun

Manager Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a centre-half who can play on the left-side of the duo, as we at Football Scotland exclusively revealed you last week. The Hoops have Liam Scales in that spot , but the boss is seeking for a strong competitor for the job and has highlighted Mepham as a credible prospect. The 26-year-old has been out of the Cherries’ starting XI in recent times through injury while the likes of Marco Senesi and Illia Zabarnyi have been on form under Andoni Iraola.

The player’s contract still has one year to remain which might imply the Premier League outfit may contemplate cashing in. And while Football Scotland understands the Welsh cap is actually on a list of objectives, it’s the Daily Mail who report they could be required to pay up nearly £8million for his services.
