Miller is bewildered by the current state of the club, especially considering their recent successes, including an unbeaten Premiership season, a Europa League final run, and participation in the Champions League group stages. Despite these achievements and the significant funds generated from player sales like Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo, and Calvin Bassey, Miller questions how the club has managed to mishandle their financial resources.
He points to numerous costly errors, including legal battles and poor transfer decisions under Ross Wilson and Michael Beale. The construction issues at the Copland Road end of the stadium, which have forced the team to temporarily play at Hampden, add to the perception of chaos within the club’s leadership.
Despite these challenges, Miller insists that now is not the time to change managers, emphasizing that Clement should be supported. He believes that Clement proved himself last season, but notes that the current squad is weaker due to a lack of financial backing.
Miller also criticizes the lack of investment in the team, despite the significant funds that should have been available. He is particularly disappointed with the situation surrounding the stadium and the costly delays in the completion of Edmiston House. He feels the fans have been let down, having invested heavily in the club only to see a team that, while hardworking, lacks the quality needed to compete at the highest level.
Miller understands the frustration among the supporters, especially given the signs of growing discontent, such as the thousands of empty seats during the recent defeat to Dynamo Kyiv. He remains concerned about the club’s transfer strategy, pointing out the need for more immediate reinforcements rather than long-term projects.
He also commented on the controversial red card shown to Jefte in the match against Dynamo Kyiv, which left Rangers with 10 men. Miller believes the VAR rules should be amended to allow for the review of yellow cards in situations like this, where the referee’s decision had a significant impact on the game.
Ultimately, Miller calls for the club to move forward with players who are committed to the team and its future, while hoping that Clement can steer the club back in the right direction despite the numerous challenges he faces.
