Celtic’s top two midfield targets will cost them a combined £17 million.

Matt O’Riley is about to tie the Scottish record when he joins Brighton. The Scottish champions are prepared to offer an incredible £30 million for the player Ange Postecoglou, who cost just £1.5 million to bring to Scotland from MK Dons. When questioned upon his arrival after the Seagulls’ victory over Manchester United, Seagulls manager Fabian Hurzeler couldn’t help but smile and say, “Let’s see what happens.”

Due to O’Riley’s impending departure, Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster his midfield, and Arne Engels is a top candidate. There have apparently been discussions about a possible trade between the Hoops and Augsburg, who play in the Bundesliga. He participated in 80 minutes of play for the German team against Werder Bremen over the weekend, and they are said to be worth £9 million.

Another player on Celtic’s list is Mateusz Bogusz. He is scheduled to play for Los Angeles FC versus Columbus Crew in the League Cup Final. It is estimated that the transfer to remove him from the Major League Soccer would cost approximately £8 million. Therefore, in order for Rodgers to sign his two top targets before the transfer window closes next week, the board will need to provide him with £17 million in support.

This week’s agenda for the Hoops includes more than just midfielders; some marginal players are leaving the team. One of those is Gustaf Lagerbielke, but the team has long wanted to get a fresh left back. Rodgers will be devoting all of his attention to the things on that list following St. Mirren in Paisley, so it will be a busy week of ins and outs for him.

In relation to departures, a forgotten outsider has declared his own departure from Parkhead. Following the release of a club reel featuring the defender in his new team colors and interacting with the media, Yuki Kobayashi has gone to social media to post videos of himself playing at Portimonese. Also, he promptly added @portimonese_oficial to his social media bio. His contract is good until the conclusion of the 2026–07 campaign.
