Celtic makes an offer to sign Rodgers’ desired “box-to-box” midfield player.

Celtic reportedly made an initial approach to sign Brendan Rodgers as a midfield addition this summer in an attempt to close their transfer window with late additions.
When the summer began, it appeared as though the Bhoys would stick with the team that had won the championship in the Scottish Premiership, but they quickly moved to add more players, bringing in players like Paulo Bernardo, Adam Idah, and Kasper Schmeichel on a permanent basis. And since their arrival, the rumors have only gotten stronger as people in Scotland try to cap off their summer with a bang.
The emphasis appears to be on midfield as well. In recent weeks, Alvyn Sanches and Mateusz Bogusz have been associated with Celtic Park. With his versatility as an attacking midfielder and center-forward, Bogusz might be an especially strong addition. If Matt O’Riley and Yogo Furuhashi decide to leave in the coming week, Bogusz could take their places.
Naturally, Brighton has expressed interest in O’Riley, and the player is now expected to join the Premier League team in a historic departure from Scotland for a starting salary of £25 million, with the possibility of an additional £30 million.

As Mahamadou Diawara struggles to get playing time at Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon, Celtic has made their first bid to sign him, according to French writer Nabil Djellit. But in the final days of the transfer window, Nantes, RC Lens, and other teams are apparently vying for the teenager’s signing in addition to the Scottish champions.
Diawara, who is only 19 years old, is a similar prospect to Sanches, who Celtic has also been connected to. Evidently keeping an eye on young midfield players with promise, Diawara may potentially replace O’Riley in the middle of Rodgers’ midfield.
After making just four starts in Ligue 1 for Lyon the previous season, Diawara is in dire need of playing time. Hopefully, Celtic will provide it to him before the end of the month. The midfielder may yet reach his full potential in Glasgo, possibly following in the footsteps of former French players who completed moves to the Scottish powerhouses, like the incredibly successful Moussa Dembele.
Since joining Lyon from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, the 19-year-old has gained a lot of admirers, including U23 scout Antonio Mango, who called Diawara a “brilliant signing” and a “box-to-box” midfielder.
Even though things haven’t quite worked out for Diawara just one summer later, Celtic seems to have stepped in and tried to put a stop to the teenager’s nightmare. In the last week of the transfer window, Diawara might be someone to watch.
