Celtic have ‘enormous’ advantage over Rangers after confirmed deal – Borson
After winning Champions League football and reaping substantial profits from the sale of Matt O’Riley to Brighton, Celtic hold a huge lead over Rangers.
According to financial analyst Stefan Borson, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider, qualifying for the top club tournament in European football each season accounts for a “massive” portion of Celtic’s earnings.
The team led by Brendan Rodgers qualified for the Champions League by winning the Scottish Premiership the previous year.
However, Rangers had to settle for a spot in the Europa League after losing to Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine in the third qualifying round, which prevented them from playing in the Champions League.
O’Riley went to Brighton for an initial £25 million, with possible add-ons bringing the sale to almost £30 million, which gave Celtic an additional boost to their revenues.
Following the Matt O’Riley trade, Celtic are in a solid financial position.
Borson stated that the Glasgow giants would have a solid financial situation this season thanks to money and the income from the Champions League.
