Burnley FC player closes in on Ipswich Town move as £25m transfer agreement emerges

About to leave Turf Moor in the last days of the summer transfer window, Lyle Foster, a striker for Burnley, is set to sign with Ipswich Town.

Reporter Sacha Tavolieri revealed via his X account on Tuesday night that Foster is very certain to sign a one-year loan agreement with Kieran McKenna that includes a buyout option.

In recent weeks, Burnley has engaged in a fire sale, with many of the team’s valuable assets going for large sums of money. The Premier League has welcomed back Dara O’Shea, Sander Berge, and Wilson Odobert, while players like Anass Zaroury and Johan Berg Gudmundsson have been sold abroad.

In the meantime, Luca Koleosho is apparently being considered by Wolves ahead of their Carabao Cup match this evening. A reported £25 million bid for the Italy youth international was turned down by Burnley. But after the tie at Molineux in the second round, more movement in the transaction is anticipated.

Burnley's Lyle Foster poised to complete £25m loan-to-buy Ipswich Town move

Foster’s transfer to Portman Road looks to be the latest major Burnley player exit, as negotiations are progressing. Although he hasn’t opened his account yet this season, the South African attacker scored five goals as the Clarets were demoted from the Premier League in the 2023–2024 season.

Ipswich Town is expected to sign Burnley’s Kyle Foster.

Foster is reportedly nearing the completion of an unexpected loan to the Suffolk company, which will include a £25 million purchase requirement, according to Tavolieri.

As to the report, although the clubs are engaged in “advanced talks” to reach a consensus, the arrangement to bring Foster to Ipswich is not finalized just yet. At this point, it seems likely that a deal will be reached in the final moments of the transfer window, and Tavolieri will be the first to publish any developments about the striker’s future.

Following up on his exclusive revelation, the Ipswich-based publication TWTD confirmed the reporter’s findings, saying there is “something in the interest” as Town searches for a possible replacement for Chelsea’s Armando Broja.

After earning automatic promotion the previous season, Ipswich began a flurry of transfer activity throughout the Championship. Town had already completed business with the Clarets, bringing in both O’Shea and Arijanet Muric.
