Injuries have slowed Jakobsen. She’s only played three games over the past two seasons for Brynäs IF in Sweden.
“It was a tough decision to make but the right decision,” Jakobsen told Brynäs. “Right now it is incredibly difficult. I don’t feel at all done with hockey, but in the long run, I will be grateful for everything I have been through. Even though I have had my own personal struggle, I have enjoyed the club very much since Day 1 and Brynäs IF gave me a new lease on life. It will hurt for a long time that I didn’t get to represent Brynäs for more than three games.”
Jakobsen played at UND for four seasons from 2011-15.
She scored 59 goals and tallied 137 points in 147 career games.
Jakobsen, of Aalborg, Denmark, is one of seven members of the Century Club (100 career points) at UND. The others are the Lamoureux twins, Meghan Dufault (135), Michelle Karvinen (131), Alyssa Wiebe (115) and Amy Menke (108). Karvinen only had three years of eligibility.
Stasia Bakhit, who started her career at Findlay before transferring to launch the UND program, tallied 111 college points and 63 at UND.
