A few days ago, it was widely rumoured that Yuki Kobayashi would be leaving Celtic for Portimonense; the transfer is now official.
The Portuguese second-tier team confirmed the transfer late last night on social media by sharing a couple photos of Kobayashi wearing their jerseys on their Instagram story:
Following a difficult period at Celtic, Kobayashi signed a four-year contract with Portimonense.
Despite the early buzz surrounding his arrival, the center-half made just seven appearances for the Bhoys before never really taking off.
Brendan Rodgers made this move in an effort to clear the decks ahead of the transfer window’s final few days.
Today at noon, the champions head to play St. Mirren, but the manager will also be thinking about bolstering his existing team.
Upon the official confirmation of Matt O’Riley’s impending departure, the team will be in worse shape than when the season concluded. Before the window closes for good on Friday night of next week, the management will want to make sure that changes.
