Neraysho Kasanwirjo, a new acquisition for Rangers, will calm and composed Philippe Clement’s defence, according to his former coach Danny Buijs.
Speaking to the Daily Record on September 5, Buijs highlighted the advantages of Kasanwirjo’s style of play following the Dutchman’s loan arrival from Feyenoord last week.
After the international break, Clement can choose to shuffle his pack and insert him right into the back line for his debut on 15 September against Dundee United.
“I signed Neraysho from Yong Ajax, you could see straight away he had been at Ajax because technically on the ball he was very good even at such a young age,” said Buijs, who signed Kasanwirjo from Ajax’s youth side for Groningen.
“He was really good, calm, and could see a good pass when he had the ball.” He elevated our game significantly on the ball. That’s his primary attribute, and what’s more significant is that he also improved his defence in and around his own box during duels.
“He can be fast and strong, but sometimes in the past he should have been more aggressive or better at reading the game.”
With the addition of Neraysho Kasanwirjo, the Rangers
Kasanwirjo, who can play center-half or full-back, will have a learning curve during his season at Ibrox, and Rangers will be able to monitor his progress in the Scottish game.
The team needs quick defensive changes in light of the outcome against Celtic last weekend. The club has the option to purchase the 22-year-old at the end of the current campaign.

Praised for his initial efforts in the Netherlands, Kasanwirjo will also give senior players, who may not have had to watch their backs as much as they should, much-needed competition.
Although Clement might think the club did not sign all of their aims during the summer transfer window, at least he now has some selection conundrums to deal with. Clement needs squad choices.
Regarding the individual, although Feyenoord is a major club in his native country, playing in front of the Gers supporters is a whole other ballgame, and how he handles pressure will tell us how he does in Glasgow.
