Boston Celtics NBA Cup schedule: Full list of games, details, and more

The Boston Celtics NBA Cup schedule for the 2024–2025 season has been revealed in its entirety. The Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers are among their group.

The four group-stage games the Celtics will play are listed below:

2024–2025 NBA Cup schedule for the Boston Celtics: Tuesday, November 12 vs. Atlanta Hawks
Tuesday, November 19 Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Washington Wizards on Friday, November 22
November 29 against the Chicago Bulls on Friday

In collaboration with Emirates, the competition was rebranded from the NBA In-Season Tournament. The Emirates NBA Cup is now its official name.

In the NBA Cup, who are the Celtics playing against?

As previously mentioned, the Celtics’ opponents in the 2024–25 NBA Cup are the Cavaliers, Hawks, Bulls, and Wizards. They comprise the Eastern Conference’s Group C.

In the NBA Cup Tournament group stage, Boston’s biggest opponent will probably be the Cavaliers. Cleveland will be trying to get revenge this year after losing to the Celtics in the second round of the playoffs the previous year.

Aside from the recent extensions that Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen signed with the team, the Cavaliers’ roster is almost exactly the same as it was the previous year. They didn’t alter anything really noteworthy.

Atlanta is going to be a fascinating squad to watch. Trae Young is once again their only offensive focal point after they dealt Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Young will be looking to keep the Hawks competitive in the postseason alongside breakout player Jalen Johnson and first-overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. Unless the Hawks want to deal him first, that is.

This summer, the Bulls let DeMar DeRozan depart and shipped out Alex Caruso; it appears that the team is finally starting a much-needed makeover. They signed Jalen Smith and added Josh Giddey, but otherwise, their roster is fairly identical. especially because they haven’t been able to swap Nikola Vucevic or Zach LaVine.

Last but not least, the Wizards are anticipated to be among the NBA’s weakest clubs this year. Other than signing Jonas Valanciunas in free agency and having a great trio of rookies (Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, and Kyshawn George), this team is headed straight to the lottery.

What is awarded to the NBA Cup winners?

The Celtics will only get the NBA Cup if they are the eventual winners in 2024–25. Apart from the trophy, each player on the team will receive a payout of $500,000. For the guys at the end of the roster, that is a game-changer, even though it might not seem like much to the team’s stars.

It’s not just the winners that receive rewards, though. Participants will get $200,000 if they go to the final, $100,000 if they advance to the semifinals, and $50,000 if they advance to the quarterfinals.

Half of each of those amounts is given to two-way players.

What was the Celtics’ NBA Cup performance in 2023–2024?

Boston placed second in their group and advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals the previous year. The Indiana Pacers, who went on to play in the first-ever finals, defeated them there. The Los Angeles Lakers, who had won the NBA In-Season Tournament and the 2023–24 NBA Cup, defeated them.
