Dion Sanderson, the captain of Birmingham City, has apologized to the supporters and addressed rumors over his future in a statement.
With a lengthy letter to fans, the central defender allayed fears about a possible exit by pledging his future to Birmingham even after the team was recently demoted to League One.
Sanderson hasn’t let anything stop him, despite a terrible season in the Championship that saw them fall to the English third division for the first time in almost thirty years. The captain wants to assist Blues in making a quick recovery.
Sanderson also wants to atone for his own mistakes, which include an off-field incident that sparked a lot of criticism. Following an incident, the 24-year-old appeared in court to answer to a charge of drunk driving.

Sanderson wrote on Instagram, saying, “Hey Bluenoses, It’s been a while since I used social media. I thought it was necessary for me to stand back and consider the previous several months. It’s been difficult to handle as a person, a player, and a captain.

“To all of you, I sincerely apologize for the errors I’ve made, both on and off the field. My house is in Birmingham City. Being able to represent this football team and experience the love and support of the supporters from the moment I go into the stadium until I leave is an honor.
