BREAKING NEWS : Birmingham City sent recruitment message after ‘huge appointment’

Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive as Blues pick Tottenham man to replace Tony Mowbray and fire team back to the Championship

Birmingham City have appointed Spurs coach Chris Davies as their new manager – and the reaction has been nearly entirely positive.

The 39-year-old has agreed a four-year contract and joins with immediate effect, replacing the sick Tony Mowbray, who stood down on May 21.

And Blues supporters have been quick to pass judgement on the decision to go for the former Celtic, Liverpool and Leicester City coach after passing on the more renowned possibilities such as Alex Neil, Liam Rosenior and Frank Lampard.

Davies, the Blues third permanent boss of the Knighthead era after Wayne Rooney and Mowbray, has been charged with both bringing Blues back to the Championship and doing it in a style in keeping with the owners’ oft-stated aim.

And they are certain the Watford-born Welshman can do the job needed of him. They have been pronouncing judgement on the appointment on social media…

Chris O’Brien: Amazing appointment! Bold, ambitious, fascinating and refreshing from the usual suspects. Season tickets, new players and we’re going! KRO

Adam: Huge appointment. We believe, gaffer.

Gary Morgan: Great appointment. High ceiling to not just come back, but come back better.

Brandon: This is either gonna go really well and be a big success, or it’s gonna explode up and go down in flames. I hope it’s the first one.

Dean William Smith: A terrific and very thrilling appointment. Giving someone different a chance and not resorting to one of the same old names. Let’s get behind him now.

Robbie Michaels: OMG – truly happy by this. Let’s back him one million percent. He is the appropriate man for us.

Mark Jackson: Brilliant news, just the type of innovative coach we need. Well done Blues.

Mark Ivory: Welcome Chris! Don’t know enough about him, but receives my complete backing and hopefully backed in the transfer market so we have a successful season. Mentally, we have to shift around the club to a winning team #KRO
