Ever since the Blues were demoted from the Championship, there has been chatter that the owners will not hesitate to provide new manager Chris Davies with the resources necessary to get out of League One as soon as he asks for them.

In fact, it has been hinted that they would be willing to smash the division transfer record, which stands at the £4 million that Sunderland paid Wigan for Will Grigg. Lauritsen, according to the story, would cost €5–6 million.

Lauritsen, a 26-year-old striker from Norway, began his professional career with Herkules in his own country before making the transition to the top division and joining Sparta on July 22. He agreed to a three-year deal with a four-year option, thus he will be with the Rotterdam team through 2026.

In his first season in the Eredivisie, he scored 12 goals in 34 appearances. In the previous season, he scored 13 goals in 31 games across all competitions, helping Sparta finish eighth out of 18 teams. In addition, the 6′ 4in target man contributed nine assists.
