CELTIC NEWS: BECK IN THE FRAME

For the second time, Brendan Rodgers is keeping an eye on Liverpool No. 3 Owen Beck, but the Scotland international lacks an experienced backup.

During his stellar loan spell at Dundee in the opening half of the previous season, the Welsh Under-21 defender captured the manager’s attention.

He was linked to the champions after being called back to Anfield at the beginning of the year, but any hopes of a deal were dashed by a seven-minute cameo for his parent club against Bournemouth.

Beck was free to continue his temporary transition to Dens Park for the balance of the season, but per FIFA regulations, no player can play for three clubs in the same season.

In March, Rodgers gave the £3.75 million Argentine misfit Alexandro Bernabei permission to spend the rest of the season with Brazilian team SC Internacional.

In January, Hugo Bueno and Sergio Gomez were also connected to the Irishman; however, Wolves and Manchester City declined to approve temporary trades for their full-backs.

After a £7.6 million deal, Gomez signed a five-year contract with Real Sociedad, while Bueno is now on a season-long loan at Feyenoord.

Beck has re-emerged as a focal point for Rodgers, and it appears that Arne Slot, the new manager on Merseyside, would consider bids for the 22-year-old left-sided player, with Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers keeping an eye on the situation.
