Everton look into Neal Maupay transfer after fan video backlash in London

Everton is considering a move of Neal Maupay following the outcry from fans in a London fan video. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 8:40, UK

The Daily Mail claims that Everton is trying to see if a deal can be reached to move Neal Maupay before the transfer deadline.

The news was broken by the newspaper in print on August 28, page 62, following the release of video showing fans fighting with players following the team’s 4-0 loss to Tottenham in London.

As he purportedly replied to the fans face-to-face and even retweeted the video on his own X account, Maupay found himself in the spotlight.

Neal Maupay will depart from Everton on August 30.

Following his transfer from Brighton to Everton for the 2022–2023 season, Maupay has been the subject of numerous disputes with the Toffees.

He was meant to relieve some of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s workload, however he has only scored once while wearing an Everton shirt.

Furthermore, even if he was never the focal point of the show, the Frenchman seems to be capable of far more than he has shown.

It appears that things have changed even though the attacker had previously declared that his future at Goodison Park earlier in the transfer season [Le 10 Sport, August 24]. The Toffees are requesting a sum of approximately £6.7 million for the attacker.

The attacker is being pursued by both Brentford and Marseille for a transfer before August 30 [Foot Mercato, 24 August], although it remains to be seen where the Frenchman will ultimately end up.
