DEAL DONE: Sheffield United ‘agree’ £2.5m deal to sign Celtic winger despite rival interest from Burnley

It has been claimed that Sheffield United and Celtic have reached an agreement to sign winger Mikey Johnston.

The 25-year-old has spent his whole playing career with Celtic, but it looks like his long-term relationship with the Scottish powerhouse is coming to an end.

Reporter Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon page that Sheffield United and the wide player have reached an agreement on a potential £2.5 million transfer.

Burnley is thought to have had their eye on him, but it looks like the Blades are in a strong position to recruit the Republic of Ireland international.

Johnstone has already played a lot of senior football, even though the majority of those games have been in the Scottish Premiership.

He came on loan to West Bromwich Albion during the winter transfer window earlier this year, and he adapted to life in the Championship quickly.

Celtic's Mikey Johnston is reportedly Sheffield United-bound.

Under Carlos Corberan’s guidance, Johnston flourished, scoring seven goals in 20 games as the Baggies advanced to the Championship play-offs.

The Blades have had a busy summer and are entering the transfer window with a strong strategy. But in the last few days of summer, their determination might be put to the test.

According to reports, Leeds United had a proposal for midfielder Gustavo Hamer rejected, while Celtic made a bid for defender Auston Trusty.

Johnston only made an appearance as a substitute in the game prior and was not included in Celtic’s roster for their most recent match.
