Flemming to go? 3 Millwall FC players who face an uncertain end of August
To strengthen the team for the upcoming season, Millwall has added five new players, but Neil Harris has stated he wants more before the August 30th deadline.
Harris now has a bit more firepower with to the addition of Femi Azeez from Reading, but you get the impression he’ll want more through the door before the window closes.
In terms of departures, the Lions haven’t been that active. Other than selling Alex Mitchell to Charlton Athletic, hardly many players have left this summer.
However, that might alter in the days leading up to the window, especially if the South Londoners are successful in bolstering their numbers.
These three athletes’ futures are far from assured.

According to recent sources, Nisbet is expected to move out of South London throughout the summer. According to the Daily Record, the Scotland international has been linked to a return to Aberdeen, just north of the border.
With Bojan Miovski’s departure, the Dons are trying to see if they can work out a possible loan arrangement.
Duncan Watmore, who has scored three goals in two games since the Championship season began, adds a lot of depth to Millwall’s front lineup already. Along with recently signed Macaulay Langstaff, Aidomo Emakhu, Tom Bradshaw, and there are rumors that Middlesbrough acquired Josh Coburn.
Nisbet, who only signed with Millwall in the summer of 2023 for a rumored £2 million from Hibernian and has five goals in 30 games for the Lions thus far, isn’t having a nice time watching that.
Given that the 27-year-old is now lower on the hierarchy, there’s a high probability the Aberdeen deal will be finalized in the next few days.
Without the Dutchman’s name being on the list, there wouldn’t be a transfer list. In his first two years with the Lions, Zian Flemming has delighted the fans at the Den and grown to be a fan favorite.
Another concern is whether he plans to stay for this season.
In April, the Athletic revealed that the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer were interested in signing the 26-year-old.
Following that failure, there have been no more rumors regarding Flemming’s exit. However, there is still time to complete a deal, so it is still possible that the Millwall star may go before the August deadline.
Flemming did indicate at the close of the previous campaign that he would be amenable to a move into the Premier League, so it seems his mind might be changed if a top level team made a move before the deadline.
His calf injury has kept him out of commission for the time being, which may turn off potential suitors, but you never know.
Smith, who has started all of the Lions’ preseason games on the bench, is undoubtedly a player of the future.
During his most recent loan stint with National League team Wealdstone, the 20-year-old right wing-back showed off his prowess by scoring twice in 13 games.
Harris has alluded to two or three young players going out on loan to grow, but there has been no hard evidence that Smith will be going on loan this year.
“Will we be relying on those youngsters in the first half of the season?” he asked Southwark News. Not ideally, since we need to make sure they have enough time to mature. It is possible to live in the building, train with us every day, and play in the 21st century. And in the initial part of the season, two or three may apply for the financing they require.”
In the event that Smith is moving, League Two seems like a suitable fit for him.
