Millwall boss reckons “at least three” signings needed before transfer window closes

Before the summer transfer window closes, Millwall head coach Neil Harris thinks the Championship team needs to add “at least three” players.

Steve Gallen, a former director of football at Charlton, has been appointed to oversee Lions recruitment. Nevertheless, with only four new summer arrivals, it has proven to be a difficult procedure thus far.

Following Saturday’s 4-3 loss to Bristol City, Harris was questioned about if the club’s board and he agreed that more players needed to be added to the Millwall roster.

“Yes, without a doubt,” Harris answered. It’s critical that I make my fan base aware of it. They should be aware that I support my changing area.

They have performed in three games this week, and they give me everything. You go away to Bristol City when we were away to Portsmouth on Tuesday, then Watford at home last week. It’s a hard, merciless first week.

It’s difficult to manage a small team.

It’s crucial that the players understand that they have my whole backing for both that and the starting eleven; I’m really happy for them. I’m quite proud of 19-year-old Romain Esse for scoring another goal. There are a lot of benefits to consider, but I also need to assist the players since I know they need it.

When asked where he thought his team needed improvement and how many new players could be needed, Harris replied, “We need top end of the pitch.” When you are missing a guy like Billy Mitchell and you are depending on George Saville and Casper De Norre to cover the distances they are, you are at least two players short at the top of the pitch and in midfield. They require assistance. I thus say at least three.

The Lions coach wants more players at the top of the field, yet his team has scored five goals in their last two league outings.

“The attacking intent we have demonstrated in three games will delight the fans,” Harris added.

“We’ve scored five goals in two league games and six goals in one week.”

“We must strike the correct balance between maintaining the team’s defensive resiliency from last year and being attack-oriented and stylish, as I desire,” the coach said. My goal is to be a strong defensive player and team player. At this point, our missteps have cost us more than actually being a bad unit.
