Joshua Coburn, on loan from Middlesbrough, sustained a calf injury during Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Luton, and Millwall manager Neil Harris anticipates that he will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
At The Den, striker Coburn was substituted after 34 minutes by fellow summer addition Macaulay Langstaff.
The 21-year-old made the transition from The Riverside on deadline day for a season-long loan, and he scored on his debut in the 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
“Josh Coburn is going to be out for six to eight weeks,” Harris told the South London Press.
“The bad news is that. Over the course of the next 14 days, we’ll monitor its progress.
We pursued this player all summer. When he eventually enters the building, he scores the first goal; it is disappointing to lose him.
It’s among those situations. What is bad for one is good for another.
“Macaulay Langstaff was very unfortunate not to open his account for the club, but he played very well when he came on,” I said.
He’s a natural goal scorer, so I have no doubt that one will be scored soon.
“We’re hopeful that Mihailo Ivanovic will recover quickly as well.
“We hope to have a few more options up top than what we may have this weekend,” the player said.
Because of a calf injury, Shaun Hutchinson replaced Jake Cooper after halftime. Hopefully, Harris, a former Reading defender, will only miss Saturday’s matchup against QPR.
Harris continued, “It’s a lot more good news for Jake Cooper.”
“We don’t believe he will be available for the London Derby this coming weekend.”
“We have more hope for Preston the following week.”
