The League Two team has had a busy summer transfer window thus far, bringing in numerous new players, such as Will Wright of Crawley Town and Kabongo Tshimanga of Peterborough United. However, with the window closing this week, there won’t be much longer to add players.
This season, Mark Kennedy’s team is yet to win a game; their most recent triumph was against AFC Wimbledon 3-2 in the middle of April (seven games ago).
On Wednesday afternoon, nevertheless, it was confirmed by a recent development that Swindon Town had lost out on another transfer target.
Welsh youth international is lost on Swindon
Midfielder Ryan Howley, who will team up with former teammate Marco Rus at Ayr United in the Scottish Championship, will spend the 2024–2025 season in Scotland, Championship club Coventry City said on Wednesday afternoon.
Swindon Town is devastated by the news from the Midlands as they had previously discussed a possible loan move for the midfield player to the League Two team.
But that deal is now off, and if Swindon Town feels they need another adaptable central midfield player before the transfer market closes on Friday, they will have to go elsewhere.
How was Howley’s season prior?
Howley began the 2023–24 season at the CBS Arena with a new contract, and he was later sent on a season-long loan to Dundee, a team in the SPFL.
Howley made a total of 14 appearances in the SPFL in all domestic tournaments, facing teams like Rangers and Celtic.
In an EFL Cup loss against AFC Wimbledon, he also played for the Sky Blues. However, instead of joining Swindon Town, he will now spend a second consecutive season on loan in Scotland.
