Leeds £4 million On Sunday night, a United player helped the nation snap a two-year losing streak in competitive play.
Several Leeds United players are on international duty this month, and one of them recently assisted his nation in winning its first competitive match since September 2022.
Leeds now has more international players after to the additions of Manor Solomon and Ao Tanaka, the return of Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson, and the recent call-ups of Mateo Joseph and Karl Darlow.
Along with Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, and Charlie Crew, Darlow is one of four Leeds players who are presently playing for Wales due to Dan James’ injury. Currently, Ilia Gruev is with Bulgaria, while Wilfried Gnonto is with Italy’s U21 team.
However, having already finished his second game of the intermission, the latter may soon be departing for Yorkshire after Bulgaria defeated Northern Ireland 1-0 in Plovdiv.
Gruev assists Bulgaria in winning its first match in the previous two years.
Bulgaria concluded a Nations League season in September 2022 with a strong nine points. Their eventual outcome was a 1-0 victory over a team from North Macedonia that featured Gruev and a certain Gjanni Alioski.
Bulgaria hasn’t won any of their eight competitive games since. Gruev’s team has only had a few of victories, limited to friendly matches against Tanzania and Cyprus, two underdogs.
However, they visited Northern Ireland on Sunday night in their second Nations League match of the season—where Stuart Dallas appears to have joined the coaching staff—and won handily, 1-0.
Gruev has five straight perfect scores as his significance increases.
The importance of Leeds’ £4 million acquisition from Werder Bremen is increasing, and the same is true for the national team. During the intermission, he participated in both of Bulgaria’s games and scored four points.
