Jordan De Goey reveals detail about partner after overseas holiday hijacked by trade rumours….

Jordan De Goey has shut down speculation around his Collingwood future after insisting neither he nor the club were entertaining the idea of a trade. De Goey says he and his partner Aisha Jade McKinnon were in Bali when trade talk around the AFL premiership winner really kicked off, hijacking parts of their end-of-season holiday together.

De Goey’s name was frequently mentioned during the recent trade period, amid reports he would be open to switching teams. It piqued the interest of several rival clubs who explored opportunities to acquire the premiership midfielder. And it was suggested that Collingwood would be willing to entertain a trade under the right circumstances.

But the 29-year-old says that was never actually the case, and that he had no intention of leaving the club either. De Goey says the rumour mill went into overdrive when AFL pundit Kane Cornes suggested the Magpies ace would be a good trade target for a rival club, forcing him to deal with the fallout while on holidays with his girlfriend.

“I was actually in Bali with my partner,” De Goey told SEN radio. “I didn’t really hear a lot of it (at first). Heard a few little whispers here and there, and I think after ‘Cornesy’ (Kane Cornes) came out and said I’d be a good trade target, the thing just grew legs and started running.

“After that, it was on for young and old, but for us, we maintained the same answer the whole time. We were happy at Collingwood, nothing seems to be changing from our end, and the club were exactly the same.”

Jordan De Goey has assured Collingwood he wants to stay

De Goey says his manager Ryan Vague received numerous phone calls during the trade period as speculation continued to mount about his future. And they even had to assure Collingwood list manager Justin Leppitsch that there was no basis to the rumours he was speaking with rival clubs.
